Pepe Heykoop Folded Lampshade

Dutch designer Pepe Heykoop has partnered up with The Tiny Miracles Foundation and set up his own production line in the middle of an impoverished community in Mumbai, India where work outside of cane basket weaving is scarce. At least 3 times a year, Pepe visits the community and teaches them various skills like welding, stitching, quality control, and work ethics. Tiny Miracles currently focuses on one specific street of around 700 people whose only home is right on the pavement in the red light district. The ambition is to lift this small community from ‘very poor’ to ‘middle class’ within the next 7 years and in 2020 to call the community is self-supporting. There are very limited other jobs in the area and by producing products in this community, suitable work is created for the mothers and fathers to increase the household’s earning power and lead to the goal of a self-supporting community.

Each Pepe Heykoop Folded Lampshade is produced in conjunction with The Tiny Miracles Foundation and each purchase directly impacts the foundation's goal of creating a self-supporting middle-class community. The shades are flat packed and when unfolded the tension of the paper maintains the shade's shape.
